God has, in great mercy, given us a day, one day in seven, wherein to rest, and to think of holy things. There were seven days that God had in the week. He said, “Take six, and use them in your business.” No, we must have the seventh as well. It is as if one, upon the road, saw a poor man in distress, and having but seven shillings, the generous person gave the poor man six; but when the wretch had scrambled on his feet, he followed his benefactor to knock him down, and steal the seventh shilling from him. How many do this! The Sabbath is their day for sport, for amusement, for anything but the service of God. They rob God of his day, though it be but one in seven. This is base unthankfulness. CHARLES SPURGEON Has someone told you lately that you take Christianity to serious? Have you been called a "Jesus Freak", or maybe something else just because you follow Christ the way the Bible tells you to. The sad thing about what I just said is that people that call themselves Christians will call you this, it has happened to me. I can't be anything less. The next time someone gives you a hard time about doing God's work, thank God. If you go by Gods word, you will be in the right. There is nothing else to go by. We should all ask ourselves daily if:We read our Bibles daily, We pray to our Lord daily, We go to church weekly,We walk in the ways of the Lord DAILY,We Deni the world daily,We stand up for Christ daily,We share Christ with others daily. Being a Christian is 24/7. You don't get days off!
James 1:21-25 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
21 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and evil excess, humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save you. (A) [a]
22 But (B) be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face [b] in a mirror; 24 for he looks at himself, goes away, and right away forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who acts—this person will be blessed in what he does.
